What is the Gospel?

This is a blog that I want people to respond to! Please put your comments/thoughts. When you hear the word "Gospel," what do you think? When you think about "the Gospel," what do you think? When you use the word "Gospel" in conversation, what are you refering to? When you share the Gospel with someone else, what do you say? When enough people have posted their thoughts, I will post mine. Thanks, guys!

No comments or explanations of the Gospel...so disappointing that I'm now commenting on my own blog entry...

haha, oh no :(.

i kind of want to just say "jesus" and smile. it's ridiculous, but an honest answer from someone who's been grown up as a Christian in the suburbs of so-cal. very sheltered and unexplored...

but i wont.

well the dictionary basically defines it as Jesus' teaching and His story. which i would agree with. but i think it goes beyond that.

it's not just words written down, profound thoughts and ideas. i would say that it's what happens BECAUSE of them.

the joy that fills an empty heart, the healing that mends the cracks, the purpose that ignites a passion...and so much more (i just finished writing my own blog, so my brain is flustered).

i dont think i "share" the gospel with words much in conversation...i think mostly i try to live a life that is a reflection of those stories and teachings in my own life - in order to bring glory to Him. try being the key word :).

anyways, i hope this makes sense and i'm not too jumbled.

now, we get to hear YOUR thoughts :).

to me it means that I don't have to figure out some way to measure up. It is obvious to me that I fail and could never measure up to the standards of a God that could create nature and everything around me. The good news for me is that I can never meet that standard, but Jesus does for me!

The gospel is crazy...its mindblowing, and it seems completely illogical to this human brain. I mean, why would the creator of everything, this huge all powerful, all knowing completely perfect being care anything about a bunch of tiny little screw ups who cannot ever seem to get it right and who continually take Him for granted or snub Him altogether...why would He care so much about these little pitiful beings that he would send his perfect son into their world to be punished for all their wrongs so that they can have a relationship with Him and be with Him forever. It makes no sense, its completely mindblowing! I'm SO glad God doesn't go by our logic and instead just loves us beyond what we can even begin to imagine or understand. That is what the gospel is to me...SOOO mindblowing...which just further points to the awesomeness of God.
